After almost 40 years of long service (including post retirement service) in the Army, Lt. Col. Diwan Singh Khadka turned towards the social service for the furtherance of social activities. Besides his participations in various social organizations he is now mainly associated and actively taking part in various programmes of Bhartiya Gorkha Parisangh, an august national organization of the Indian Gorkhas.
His early life (say from childhood till he joined army) has been full of challenges. Somehow, he managed to complete his basic education and joined the army (Gorkha Rifles) in the rank in 1962. He worked hard and got selected to join the Army Cadet College in 1965, barely after two years and a few months on joining the army. He got his commission for IMA on 16th Dec 1967.
Though retired from services, he is still very active and truly devoted to social service. Presently he is the Adhyaksha of Uttarakhand unit of Bhartiya Gorkha Parisangh and takes part in all activities of the Parisangh.
